Minutes of the monthly meeting of the Iowa City Amateur Radio Club, held Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at 7:00 PM at the United Methodist Church, North Liberty, Iowa

Prior to the business meeting, Willy Robison, KCØJFQ gave a presentation on foxhunts. A PDF file of the presentation is on the ICARC.org website

Mike Parker, KEØQKF, chaired the business meeting.

Treasurer Willy Robison, KCØJFQ, reported that our balance is $* in the checking account, with about $* in petty cash.

Old business

It is not certain at this time whether there will be a Volunteer Examiner session on Monday, December 4, 2023 in Van Allen Hall at the University of Iowa. A decision is expected soon.

John Kauble, KØGH, is working on contacting the appropriate people at the Veterans Administration Medical Center about permission for putting an antenna on top of the hospital building.

Dennis Boyd, WBØVZK, has tried using a new format for the Sunday night net. The consensus was that we should probably go back to using a roll call for the net because there is a different net operator each week. It was decided that the net should ask officers to check in first, followed by the Gold Club, followed by a roll call.

A .csv file for the roll call for the net is available on the ICARC.org website.

New business

It was reported that Facebook is working well for us as a social media app.

John Kauble, KØGH, reported that the repeater had not been working well, but that he is working on fixing it.

Dave Ratliff, KEØSFV, emphasized the importance of the net operator having good contact with the repeater.

Respectfully submitted,

John Nichols, KFØHES

Secretary, Iowa City Amateur Radio Club
